Head of Learning (Full Time)

As Head of Learning, we are looking for someone who has had direct experience of teaching a relevant subject in a secondary school environment, or within the museum education sector. However, The National Museum of Computing will support you in your learning and development in this field. An interest in the history and development of technology would be a clear advantage.

As the Head of Learning you will be responsible for the management and delivery of our Learning Programme. You will lead a team of dedicated freelance and volunteer staff.

STEM Facilitators (Part Time)

As part of our dynamic learning program at The National Museum of Computing, we're seeking individuals passionate about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) to assist with our engaging workshops and events. Training will be provided, making this role perfect for those with a background in education or a keen interest in technology history.

This role offers flexible weekend and holiday hours, allowing you to contribute to our mission of inspiring the next generation of innovators while accommodating your schedule.

Trustee Roles (Voluntary)

We are now looking to strengthen and widen our Board of Trustees membership and would like to hear from individuals with a wide range of relevant experience and perspectives.

Diversity is important to us and we would encourage applications from a broad range of applicants, especially currently under-represented groups.

We are looking for Trustees who share a passion for our mission and want to help us drive it forwards. We seek new Trustees with the ability to think strategically, assess opportunities and manage risk to join and strengthen our existing Board, help provide oversight of staff and volunteers, and with experience in the public, private, or voluntary sector.

Voluntary Roles

We have a number of roles we want to fill to help enhance our visitor experience. These roles are open to volunteers and we very much welcome existing and especially new volunteers who want to take on one or more of these roles:

  • STEM Ambassadors for weekends and holiday periods - To help with our STEM workshops and events. Training will be given.

  • Learning Guide - To help our Learning Guides, co-ordinating schedules and take on some guiding roles.

  • Shop / Ticketing - To help with the museum shop and/or ticket office.

  • Customer Service - To deal with our visitors queries and help out around the museum.

  • Events Support - To help with events held at the museum and externally, including some corporate events & exhibitions.

  • Curatorial Team - To help manage our collections of artefacts, specialise in some collections and work with our Donations team and Senior Curator.

  • Maintenance / Repairs - To help maintain and repair our exhibits on display and in storage. You will need prior repair and fault-finding experience.

  • Retro Gaming - To help with our retro games machines (repair) and manage our collection of hands-on equipment.
